How Cincy Roof Desk works

Cincy Roof Desk is a free referral service for people with houses in Cincinnati and the rest of Hamilton County, Ohio. We don't do roofing. A request you send goes to one independent roofing contractor that works your area, and that contractor gets in touch to see the roof and price the job.

  1. Describe the problem. Fill in the form or call us. A picture taken from the ground is plenty.
  2. A local roofer who works your area gets in touch. You pick a time for them to see the roof. Ask whether there is a charge for the visit.
  3. The price comes on paper first. Put it next to another bid or the adjuster's numbers. Nothing starts until you agree.

Who pays

The roofing contractor pays us for each introduction. You pay us nothing. We don't set prices, do the work, or handle insurance claims.

Which roofers

Ohio does not issue a state license for roofing. The Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board licenses five commercial trades, among them electrical and plumbing, and roofing is not one of them. The City of Cincinnati requires every contractor working inside city limits to hold a current contractor registration, renewed each year, under Municipal Code Chapter 1106. For a job inside the city, the roofer we pass your request to must be registered. Outside the city, your own city, village or township sets the rules. What to check yourself.

What we expect from the roofer

A written, itemized price before work begins, and a plain explanation of what an insurance estimate does and doesn't cover. If that doesn't happen, tell us at (513) 717-6972.

Things we won't do

We won't sign anything for you, pressure you to file a claim, or deal with your insurer on your behalf. For help with the claim itself, talk to your agent.

Where the information comes from

Each guide lists its sources at the bottom. The housing and storm figures are our own count from public government data (Census housing estimates, NOAA storm reports and FEMA declarations). See how we did it.
